The Nominating Committee of Token Economy Association (TEA SG) invites representatives of TEA SG members to nominate individuals to serve on the Board of TEA SG.
The Board will consist of the following members, who will be elected at the Annual General Meeting:
Chairman
Vice Chairman
Secretary
Treasurer
Seven Ordinary Board Members
Only representatives of any member company as at 7th September 2019 may be nominated or vote in the election. Only one representative of any member company may be elected to the Board. A majority of the Board Members must be Singapore citizens or permanent residents. In addition, the Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer must be Singapore citizens or permanent residents. Only representatives of Ordinary or Associate members who are resident in Singapore may be nominated.
Nominations must be made in writing or electronically by the voting representative and must be proposed by a representative and seconded by another representative. The nomination must be signed by the person nominated, signifying the person’s consent to the nomination, and must be signed by the proposer and seconder. Signatures may be electronic. The Nominating Committee may also make nominations with the prior written approval of the nominee. A copy of the nomination form can be found below:

Nominations will close on 24th September 2019, 6pm. Please state whether the nomination is for one of the four Officer positions or for one of the Ordinary Board Member positions.
The Nominating Committee will review the nominations and will announce the names of eligible nominees at least 14 days prior to the Annual General Meeting, which is planned for 15th October 2019.

FAQ
What types of people should apply?
We need passionate, knowledgeable and connected people to lead the Association in representing the broader fintech industry, fostering talent and innovation across the blockchain sector, and supporting growth of blockchain in Singapore.
Who is eligible to apply?
Staff of members* of the Token Economy Association (TEA SG) may apply. Only one representative per company may be elected to the Board. While the chairman, secretary and treasurer must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, the vice chairman and other committee members may any TEA SG member resident in Singapore. A majority of the Board must be PR or Singapore citizens.
*members refer to corporates whose membership applications have been approved and membership fees paid.
How do I apply?
You can apply by submitting information about yourself, including contact details and a short bio, via the link on the email that has been sent to TEA SG members regarding nominations. You will also need a proposer and seconder for your nomination. Proposers and seconders must be members of TEA SG.
Do I apply for a specific position?
You may apply for the role of chairman, vice chairman, secretary or treasurer. Otherwise, you can apply for the role of “Ordinary Board Member.” Seven “ordinary” members will be elected at the AGM.
What is the commitment required?
We meet as a Board approximately once per month. These meetings are generally for about 2 hours, so that the Board has adequate time for strategy and planning. Most Board members also serve on at least one of the sub-committees. Committee members frequently attend TEA SG and industry events. And there is sometimes work to be done by individual board members on TEA SG activities.
Do I need to be responsible for something or just have a board role?
You can choose to run to be an officer – the chairman, vice chairman, secretary or treasure. Most board members also serve on a subcommittee.
What’s the process & timeline of nomination and selection?
- 5th September 2019 – Nominations are open
- 24th September 2019 – Nominations close at 6pm SGT
- 25th September -to 4th October 2019 or earlier– Nominations are reviewed by the Nominating Committee
- 5th October or earlier: Eligible Nominees are announced
- 15th October 2019 – AGM to vote and decide on new board members
What are the criteria for selection by the Nominating Committee:
The Nominating Committee is looking for individuals who have the interest, passion, experience and commitment to add value to the blockchain community in Singapore. Criteria the Nominating Committee will use include:
- Ecosystem Engagement. The nominee has participated in and supported ecosystem activities. Examples might include moderating panels, speaking, mentoring, advising, volunteering at events, coordinating events, or working on behalf of the TEA SG. We’re looking for people with a passion and with the ability to represent the blockchain industry and issues.
- Blockchain innovation engagement. The nominee is actively engaged in Blockchain innovation activities such as building Blockchain solutions, supporting business transformation using Blockchain, consulting in Blockchain, or mentoring Blockchain startups.
- Willingness to devote time to the TEA SG. The nominee must credibly be prepared to spend time (whether on their own time or as part of their company duties) and to devote time to TEA SG meetings and activities.
How will Committee Members be elected?
SFA members will vote for office bearers and ordinary committee members at the Annual General Meeting, and election will follow on a simple majority vote of the members. Election will be either by show of hands or, subject to the agreement of the majority of the voting members present, by a secret ballot. The term of office of the Committee is one year.
Who can be the proposer and seconder in the nomination form?
The nominee can be the proposer. The seconder can be the official representative of another TEA SG member.
Can a member propose or second more than one nominee?
Yes.
