Blockchain Association Singapore and leading tech industry association SGTech announce partnership to boost developments in blockchain in Singapore
- The partnership will see both parties collaborate on blockchain-related issues such as certification and talent while furthering knowledge on blockchain technology
Singapore, 22 March 2022 – Blockchain Association Singapore (BAS) and leading tech industry association SGTech jointly announced a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing ceremony yesterday was witnessed by Guest of Honour Minister of State for Communications and Information Tan Kiat How.
Under the MOU, both parties will establish a deep partnership to bolster the local blockchain ecosystem through leveraging on each other’s networks on issues such as blockchain certification, talent, as well as furthering knowledge on the technology through the hosting of various conferences and events.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr Chia Hock Lai, Co-Chairman of BAS, said: “We are excited to collaborate with SGTech to work on solving blockchain-related issues as well as empowering the furtherment of blockchain-related knowledge. We believe that we can leverage each other’s vast experience and network to further foster a robust local blockchain ecosystem. As per the recent survey by KPMG, the majority of cryptocurrency and blockchain deals for Singapore in 2021 went towards software and underlying infrastructure. We are seeing this wave and we foresee blockchain to be a frontrunner in generating jobs in Singapore.”
Mr Wong Wai Meng, SGTech Chair, said: “SGTech is thrilled to work with the Blockchain Association Singapore and its membership base to advance the adoption of emerging technology. Based on SGTech’s Annual Survey, there is a growing interest in blockchain applications among tech companies with blockchain technology identified as one of the key technologies of interest. The Blockchain Association Singapore was established to facilitate collaboration between market participants and stakeholders in the Blockchain ecosystem.
